Ezra is 3 months old today!
He is 8lb 12oz (as of Friday) and 20.5" long (as of Thursday).
(Edited to add - at his doctor's appointment on Monday 12/17, he was 9lb 3oz and 21.5"... not sure which length to believe since they're not exact.)
He is wearing 0-3 month clothes, but they are usually a little big on him, especially the pants.
He is wearing newborn diapers - the kind that fit up to 10lb.
We haven't been keeping close track, but he usually eats 8 or 9 times a day, anywhere from 1 to 4 ounces or 5 minutes to an hour breastfeeding. If he's taking a bottle, it's breast milk with added vitamins or calories. This makes it hard to predict how much milk to put in a bottle or how much time to expect to spend feeding him, but he's growing, so it works out!
He sleeps 3-4 hours between feedings. The longest stretches he'll do are 5 hours, but it never seems to be at night. At this point, he probably spends around 4-6 hours awake in a day. When he came home from the NICU, we had to train him to differentiate day and night and he now spends most of his alert periods during daylight hours.
The last month has been a big deal for this little guy! He came home from the NICU on November 21 at 41 weeks 2 days gestational age. We love having him at home!
He has had several doctors' visits this month - pediatrician, cardiologist, hematologist, and audiologist. He has some fluid in his left ear and may need tubes next summer or fall. His heart is working great and he no longer has any evidence of the clot in his leg. He is on 1/8 liter of oxygen and his cardiologist expects him to need oxygen for another 2 or 3 months. The good news is that if his oxygen comes off, his oxygen saturations don't plummet dangerously low within 5-10 minutes or so - the cardiologist checked that this week.
In terms of motor development, Ezra moves his arms and legs, usually keeps his hands in fists but will open them when playing or being held, can hold his head up for a long time when he's on someone's chest but just a second when he's on the floor, can turn his head side to side, chews on his fists or wrists sometimes, and will stand if his feet are placed on a flat surface. And as I posted before, he is starting to play by batting at or grabbing a hanging toy. He still has a strong Moro reflex (flinging his arms out when startled).
As far as senses and social skills go, he focuses on objects about a foot away (he most enjoys looking at our faces or a mirror but will also look at other nearby things) and will follow an object up and down with his eyes and head - not always side to side. He made eye contact with me for the first time today and occasionally smiles while he's awake, but has not put the two together.
