Ezra is home!

After 66 days in the NICU, we brought Ezra home this afternoon!

He is 9 1/2 weeks old, 41 weeks 2 days gestational age (which we will stop counting now). He weighs 7lb 1oz and is 19" long... he has grown 3.5 inches and almost 4 pounds since he was born!

He is on oxygen - we have a big tank for home and four small tanks for going out. He is not, however, on Lovenox (the anticoagulant injections) anymore! His doctor decided to order an ultrasound of his leg yesterday and it looked all clear, so she discontinued that medication. He'd been on it for a few weeks and we had learned to inject it through a subcutaneous port in his leg twice a day and change the port every 5 days. The injections were painful for him and we are SO glad we don't have to do that!

Ready to leave the hospital... Ezra's first time outside!

The first thing we did when we got home? Cuddle this little guy, do a few minutes of tummy time, and cry with joy. Ezra did not cry with joy (or sorrow) - he just looked around and took things in. He was awake for a good 3 hours this afternoon with all the excitement of coming home.

It is totally surreal to finally have Ezra home with us, yet it instantly felt right. Instead of going up to the hospital tonight, we've been taking turns letting him sleep on our chests. Right now he's on me and Ross is doing the dishes. We made dinner. Laundry is going. We're home.
