We had a pretty low-key Christmas. I went to the Christmas Eve service by myself since we don't want to expose Ezra to all the germs yet. It was a good opportunity reflect on what we've been through in the last year. Last Christmas I remember sitting there hoping that next year we'd have a new baby with us at the service. This year, our pastor invited us to reflect on where in our
walk in darkness we have seen a great light. It seemed a very appropriate verse for our family, for whom this fall was so hard and now, at Christmastime, we feel such love in the calm and simplicity of Christmas at home as a family of three.

Yesterday morning I made cinnamon rolls (not from scratch) and bacon. I put Ezra in his festive "My First Christmas" onesie. At the next diaper change, he peed all over himself - like, not just a little bit of pee on the side of the onesie... the hair on the left side of his head was completely soaked. So, Christmas morning bathtime it was. We washed the outfit because it's a one-time-use thing.
When Ross got up, we opened our stockings and the non-surprise-but-still-exciting gifts of a Kindle Fire (for him) and Photoshop Elements 11 (for me). We got Ezra a wooden rattle and a book with pictures of babies from around the world. We spent most of the day playing with Ezra and our new toys, eating, and clearing the white Christmas off the sidewalks at church.

In the evening, we went to have dinner with our dear friend-family, the Rempels. Ezra was transfixed by their Christmas tree. He also ate a record six ounces of milk and then proceeded to pee through his diaper, onto the First Christmas onesie, once again necessitating an outfit change.
I wonder how many changes of swaddling clothes the baby Jesus peed through.
