Sixty-six

Today is the sixty-sixth day Ezra has been home.

As of today, he has spent as many days of his life at home with us as he did in the NICU.

As of today, the number of nights we have slept with him beside us equals the number of nights we walked out of the NICU without him.

In Ezra's first 66 days, we were blessed to have many people who cared for him in ways we could not. As parents, we were part of a care team, and we are beyond grateful to the other people on that team who used their training to save Ezra's life as it was beginning.

And in his second 66 days, we are no longer part of a team - we are just a family. It is a blessing to be able to care for our baby all the time in the way that only parents are able. We spent a month of that time home full time as a family of three. Ezra has grown and thrived, met many family members and friends, and was able to come off daytime oxygen this week.

Home.
