Ezra is six months old! How is it possible that we've had this little guy for half a year already? (Even though it should have only been 4 months.)
Ezra's 6 month appointment was today. He's 13lb 11.6oz and 24.5" and his head circumference is 16.73". Our printout from the doctor has his percentiles by actual age and he's still below the curve on height and weight, but his big ol' noggin is in the 25th percentile for true 6 month olds! He recently grew out of 3 month clothes and fits quite nicely in most 3-6 month and 6 month outfits. His hair seemed to take an extended break from growing, but I think we're starting to get a little more hair growth again recently.
This month, Ezra started sleeping through the night (most nights, anyway). And by this I mean he's sleeping from about 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. without waking to eat. This development has made for a very happy mommy and daddy. I have no idea how he does this, because everything I've read says babies, especially breastfed babies, usually wake at night for several months yet. He sleeps right next to me in his cradle - close enough that I can touch him (and see him with my glasses off) and any little noise wakes me up. He does stir sometimes, but he doesn't make hunger cues, and both of us usually fall right back to sleep.
Physically, he can hold his head up when he's on his belly, although he still hates tummy time. We often have to kind of trick him into tummy time. He can also sit up with assistance.
He is quite the little chatterbox these days. He has lots of things to say! Most mornings he spends some quality time talking with (and shrieking at) his friends the dangling brightly colored animals in the activity gym. He also enjoys chewing on his animal friends and anything else within his grasp. He took to sucking his thumb this month. Favorite chew toys include his fingers, Ross's fingers, my fingers, any cloth he can get his hands on, and a green plastic teething toy. He is also drooling constantly.
This weekend was big for social milestones... we took Ezra out to eat for the first time (sushi with friends) and took him to church for the first time. He did a great job with both!
