16 Months

Okay, I just typed the title as "16 months," and I am starting to feel like it's mildly ridiculous to refer to Ezra's age in months. Is 1 year + 4 months better? Development is still noticeable on a month-to-month basis though.

This last month, Ezra has added signs for "water" and"cheese" to his vocabulary. Fitting, because cheese is the main thing he likes to eat. He also enjoys apples, grapes, and soft granola bars with fruit filling, among plenty of other foods - including rather spicy and flavorful ones.

He also took a few steps! On January 9. It was very exciting, but he hasn't done it again.

He also has started pointing. This has unleashed a beast. He now points to the counter with the blender and stand mixer and demands for us, a.k.a. his minions, to place him on the counter next to them. He likes to play with his friends the appliances several times a day at minimum. Their default setting is now unplugged.
Also fun is when Uncle Nicholas throws him in the air.

Ezra's other escapades include climbing from the couch over the chair, onto the end table and up Ross's desk. He cannot yet get onto the couch without stepping on something, but that is sure to come soon.

He also has started to fake us out. Usually he likes to lure us into his personal space by offering a bite of food and then he takes it away and/or grabs our faces and giggles hysterically. But we keep falling for his trickery because usually he actually does give us a bite. It's very cute.

Know what's not cute? Biting, which has reemerged. It seems to be related to teething, and fortunately, he is working on the last canines, so we should get a break until the second set of molars come in.

Hanging out with Grandma Helen.
The last month, of course, included Christmas and New Year's. We stayed home for Christmas and celebrated with our friends the Rempel family in the evening, and then we flew to Kansas City to visit my family for the week of New Year's.
