Ezra - 4.5 years

Happy half birthday to Ezra!

(who pretty much doesn't smile for pictures - is there any way he's not like his daddy?)

Four has been pretty good so far.

Ezra can do a lot of things independently now, but he is not too independent to snuggle!

Ezra goes to preschool 4 days a week (though we have a flexible schedule since I'm a student and Ross is job hunting, so we are pretty liberal about days off), and he really enjoys his school. They've had a lot of teacher turnover in his class this year, but he doesn't seem to mind.

Ezra loves nature.
The other day he said ,"Trees are so beautiful to me."
He loves hiking, so he's a good motivator to get out and hike in local parks, even in winter.

Ezra is an intense kid. He has been forever.
He likes to dig into whatever he's doing and learn a lot about it.

He remembers everything.

He is gloriously imaginative and loves to build and play.

Lately he's been drawing more, and working on writing his name.

He loves to be read to. We just realized he recognizes a few sight words.
He has a tendency to skip numbers when he's counting, but he can do basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and fractions.

He is full of energy and pretty much only self-motivated, which makes parenting pretty challenging sometimes. Three was really hard with a kid like that. This year, he is getting better at self-control and seems to take more pride in doing things himself, so four is more enjoyable.

It's so cool to see the person this little guy is becoming.
